WARNING! Do not collect dead fish in parts of the Murray Darling-Basin.
Thank you all for taking the time to read our post on the unfolding backwater event in parts of the southern basin.
We just want to let everyone know that if they see any dead fish DO NOT remove them from the water. All the normal rules and regulations apply. This includes bag, possession, size limits and closed seasons for both Murray Cod and Murray Crays.
PLEASE DO NOT take them from the water because if you are in possession of any under size fish or Murray Cod during closed season it is an offence. Whether it was dead or alive when you found it.
You can help by notifying the appropriate agencies if you see stressed or dying fish during this unfortunate event. Fisheries are out on the water and in effected areas collecting the fish for research purposes, we can help by taking photos and notifying fisheries by calling 1800 043 536.
Stay tuned as we will share more updates as they come to hand.
